Music writing is a great personal pleasure and sometimes a song finds favour further afield. But if you’re writing as you see it with foresight or maybe a touch of George Orwell never play your songs locally or to your family.
Biblically speaking ‘ “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honour.” Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honour except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.’ Mmmm. Why is that? Is it true?
Jesus must love me. My latest song has got 28 plays in Ho Chi Minh City, 27 plays in Hanoi and another 27 in Cairo. For information, that is where it seems I am seen as a prophet, not in my own town indeed.
